Candidates can apply for the NSP scholarship for the 2025-26 academic year through the official National Scholarship Portal (NSP), scholarships.gov.in. The NSP scholarships application window for the academic year 2025-26 is open at different times for different schemes, usually starting in June and lasting until December.
The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) is a government initiative of India that provides a single online platform where all the government scholarship schemes for students from Class 1 to PhD are offered and managed. It is one of the components of the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) and intends to give a "single-window" facility for the entire scholarship process, starting from application submission to fund disbursement.

How to Apply: Online
Portal Status: The portal is open for most of the central and state scholarships.
Deadline: December 15, 2025. However deadline varies according to different schemes.
Visit the Official Website: Access the National Scholarship Portal at scholarships.gov.in.
One-Time Registration (OTR): New applicants are required to register on "New Registration" to obtain a unique OTR number.
Read the given guidelines and click on "Register Yourself".
Provide the basic information such as domicile state, full name, birth date, contact number, and Aadhaar/Aadhaar Enrollment ID.
After mobile OTP verification, you will possibly have to go through face recognition via the NSP OTR mobile app to get the OTR number.
Log In: Enter your Application ID (created during OTR) and password to open the student dashboard.
Required Documents (Keep Handy Before Applying)
Aadhaar Card – Mandatory for identity verification and registration.
Bank Passbook – Must have an Aadhaar-linked bank account for Direct Benefit Transfer.
Educational Documents – Last exam mark sheet to validate academic eligibility.
Income Certificate – Required to confirm annual family income as per scheme norms.
Caste/Category Certificate – Needed only if applying under reserved categories.
Domicile Certificate – Confirms that the student belongs to the applicable state/UT.
Bonafide Student Certificate – Proves current enrollment in an eligible institution.
Passport-Size Photograph – Required for identity and application processing.
Aadhaar is mandatory – Students must provide Aadhaar or Enrollment ID to apply.
Avoid duplicate applications – Renewal students should apply only through the renewal section.
Track Status – Application progress can be checked anytime through the “Check Status” option on the portal.

Fill in the Application Form: After logging in, choose the scholarship scheme you wish to apply for and complete the application form with academic, personal, and bank details.
Upload Documents: Upload the scanned copies of all the necessary documents (only for some schemes like Merit-cum-Means/Top Class; Pre and Post-Matric students typically are not required to upload all documents).
Final Submission: Double-check all information entered and then click the "Final Submit" button.
