NIFT 2026 officially invites applications for Bachelor's (UG) and Master's (PG) programmes. The National Testing Agency (NTA) organizes the exam on behalf of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).

Application Start Date: December 8, 2025
Application Deadline: January 6, 2026
Late Fee Application Window: January 7 – 10, 2026 (with INR 5,000 late fee)
Correction Window: January 12 – 14, 2026
Admit Card Release: 1st Week of February 2026
NIFT Entrance Exam Date: February 8, 2026
Age Limit (UG): Maximum 24 years as of August 1, 2026. SC/ST/PwD categories get a 5-year relaxation.
Age Limit (PG): No upper age limit for M.Des, M.F.M, and M.F.Tech programs.
Educational Qualification:
B.Des: 10+2 from a recognized board is mandatory.
B.F.Tech: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics is required.
M.Des / M.F.M: Graduation in any stream.
M.F.Tech: NIFT B.F.Tech or BE/B. Tech from any recognized university is required.
The examination is composed of two primary segments:
General Ability Test (GAT): This is the common exam for every program. The test comprises Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, English Comprehension, Analytical Ability, and General Knowledge/Current Affairs.
Creative Ability Test (CAT): This is mainly for B.Des and M.Des programs. It tests the applicant's artistic and creative potential, such as drawing and working with materials.
General / OBC (NCL) / GEN-EWS: INR 2,000 – INR 3,000 (depending on course selection).
SC / ST / PwD: INR 500 – INR 1,500

Fashion Design (FD): NIFT’s most prestigious course is focused on apparel design and haute couture.
Fashion Communication (FC): Deals with branding, styling, fashion media, and visual communication.
Accessory Design (AD): Specializes in jewelry, footwear, and lifestyle product design.
Textile Design (TD): Focuses on fabric development, prints, embroidery, and surface design.
Apparel Production (B.F.Tech): A technology-driven program centered on garment manufacturing and industrial engineering.
Fashion Interiors: An emerging field blending interior design, fashion aesthetics, and sustainability.
