The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) 2026 entrance exam will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The application process is expected to begin in November 2025, and the written exam is tentatively scheduled for the second week of February 2026. Aspiring candidates can visit the official website nift.ac.in and the NTA NIFT portal, exams.nta.ac.in/NIFT/ for the latest updates.
Candidates can appear for the exams for the various undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programs, including B.Des, B.FTech, M.Des, M.FTech, and MFM.
The expected application fee is around INR 3,000 for General/OBC candidates and INR 1,500 for SC/ST/PwD candidates. A late fee of approximately INR 5,000 will apply after the initial deadline.
The age limit of candidates should be 24 years as of August 1, 2026 (5-year relaxation for reserved categories). The academic qualification differs for each UG and PG course.
The NIFT 2026 entrance exam has two written tests: GAT (General Ability Test) and CAT (Creative Ability Test).
After the written tests, candidates face a Situation Test (for B.Des) and/or a Personal Interview (for PG and some B.FTech courses).
GAT is a computer-based, objective-type exam that checks general aptitude skills and communication ability.
CAT is an offline test focused on creativity and evaluates candidates for their observation and design skills. This test is only for B.Des and M.Des applicants.

Go to the official website nta.ac.in/NIFT and click on the "NIFT 2026 Registration" link.
Create an account, select the “New Candidate” link.
Fill in the details and upload the required documents.
Click on the payment link and download the confirmation page after payment.
