The National Testing Agency (NTA) scheduled the NEET UG 2026 re-examination for June 21, 2026 (Sunday). This emergency decision follows the cancellation of the initial May 3 exam due to widespread paper leak allegations.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan confirmed the new schedule alongside strict administrative updates to restore the integrity of the medical entrance paper. Students can visit the Official NTA NEET Website.

Official NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Schedule and Deadlines

The NTA has released a strict timeline for all registered candidates to ensure a smooth transition to the new test date:

  • Correction Window: Open from May 15 to May 21, 2026 (until 11:50 PM). Candidates can update their present address and city choices.

  • Admit Card Release: Fresh admit cards with new roll numbers will be issued by June 14, 2026. Previous admit cards are invalid.

  • Paper Date: June 21, 2026 (Sunday).

  • Revised test Timings: The re-test will take place from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM (IST).

Key Changes to the Test Paper Pattern and Future Policy

To compensate for stricter security protocols, the NTA has introduced major operational changes for this year and a permanent policy shift for the future:

  • Extra Writing Time: Candidates receive an additional 15 minutes, extending the total duration to 3 hours and 15 minutes (195 minutes). This covers OMR formalities without cutting into solving time.

  • Zero Additional Fees: No fresh registrations are permitted. The previously paid examination fee fully covers the June 21 re-test.

  • Mode: The upcoming June 21 re-exam will stick to the traditional offline Pen-and-Paper (OMR-based) format.

  • Digital Shift for 2027: The Education Ministry announced that beginning next year (NEET UG 2027), the paper will permanently transition to a fully digital Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode to eliminate physical security risks.

The NTA urges parents and students to ignore unverified social media claims. All official notices must be tracked directly on the Official NTA NEET Website.
