The NEET PG 2025 counselling first round indicates a strong inclination towards MD General Medicine, as 9 out of 10 candidates are opting for it.
Recent observations from the NEET PG 2025 show the interests of 46 candidates out of 100 in selecting General Medicine. The most preferred branch is replacing the Radiology that was at the top last year.
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) tests the NEET PG exam annually. The exam is scheduled once a year. The NBEMS is the conducting authority for NEET PG exams.
The authority is responsible for issuing the official notification and submitting the application form. It designs exam papers, releases results and coordinates with the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for the central counselling process.
For the NEET PG 2025, a total of 2,30,114 candidates took the exams, out of which 1,28,116 applicants succeeded the exam with minimum cut-offs. The overall passing cut-off has been 60.26%. The NEET PG 2025 was scheduled on August 3, 2025
Based on the recent inclination of NEET PG 2025 counselling, the MD Surgery is falling in popularity among top-ranked students. The reasons behind are:
MD Surgery takes a longer period of training; after that, you need to complete MCh (super-specialisation) to become a successful surgeon. A long training Period and keeping consistency with new updates make this branch tough.
Becoming a surgeon is a demanding career as it requires long hours at the workplace. New era students seek a better life balance for a long-term career, a major reason for the decline.
To become an independent surgeon is costly, as it demands skilled staff, expensive surgical instruments and a significant amount to set up all these.
As the General Medicine branch is getting fame and becoming the most in-demand branch because of its genuine transformation with today’s youth choices and comfort. The MS General Surgery branch needs more dedication and hardcore practice in real time.
Apart, the NEET PG exams are the most competitive exams as lakhs of students take this exam to get selected in PG Medicine courses.
