The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) is introducing the 1-year B.Ed course under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The program provides a teaching qualification for UG and PG students. Students with a standard 3-year Bachelor's degree are not eligible for the 1-year version and must continue to enrol in the regular 2-year B.Ed course.

As the programme is in its final stage, these are the tentative universities that will conduct the 1-year B.Ed course.
University of Delhi (DU)
Banaras Hindu University (BHU)
Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI)
IGNOU (Distance/ODL mode)
Postgraduate Candidates who have a Master's degree in M.A., M.Sc., M.Com, etc, in a school subject with at least 50% marks.
Candidates with a 4-Year Degree who have completed a 4-year integrated undergraduate degree (like B.A. B.Ed. or B.Sc. B.Ed.) or a specialised 4-year UG program with at least 50% marks.
The course is for 1year and divided into two semesters. The admission process will be conducted through a national-level or university-specific entrance test (e.g., CUET-PG or NTA Entrance Test).
The tentative course fee is between INR 20,000 and INR 50,000 for the government. colleges.
