FAQ's
The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has announced that it’s reintroducing the 1-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programme under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 framework as an alternate pathway to teacher preparation.
The move aims to give flexibility and options for teacher training. After NEP 2020 originally moved towards 4-year integrated teacher education programmes (ITEP), a 1-year B.Ed pathway is being brought back so candidates with a bachelor’s degree can pursue teacher training without joining the longer integrated route.
Candidates with a relevant bachelor’s degree (e.g., B.A., B.Sc., B.Com) from a recognised university will be eligible to enrol in the 1-year B.Ed programme once the new regulation is implemented, subject to final guidelines from NCTE/education authorities.
