According to the 2025 NIRF University Rankings, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) moved up from fourth to third place.
The press release of MAHE noted that over 14,000 Indian higher education insitutions participated this year. The institutions were judged in nine categories that cover eight subjects.
The strengths of MAHE extend beyond just its university ranking with notable achievements in other areas. It ranked 5th in the new Sustainability category that shows a focus on environmental matters. In research, MAHE improved its position from 23rd in 2024 to 19th in 2025. It also secured 14th place in the India Overall Ranking.
MAHE noted in a release that over 14,000 higher education institutions in India participated this year. The evaluation included nine categories and eight subject areas.
Besides its university ranking, MAHE did well in several areas. It ranked fifth in the new Sustainability category, which shows its focus on environmental issues. In research, MAHE went from 23rd in 2024 to 19th in 2025. Its Overall India Ranking was 14th.
Many MAHE institutions also received good rankings. Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal, was fifth, and Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences was eighth. Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, was tenth, and Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore, was 11th. The Manipal School of Architecture and Planning ranked 27th, and Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, was 35th.
T.A. Pai Management Institute got 39th place, and the Manipal Institute of Technology was 59th.
MAHE Vice-Chancellor Dr. M.D. Venkatesh said that getting third place in the NIRF University Rankings confirms the university’s ongoing commitment to academic quality.
