National Testing Agency (NTA) in a surprising move has changed the dates for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), Main session 1 2026 examination. The new dates were made available by NTA today (January 8) through a notice that was meant to inform the candidates about the release of the exam city intimation slips.
On January 8, at noon, NTA released the exam city intimation slips. The agency informed that the JEE Main 2026 January session exams will be conducted from January 21 to January 29, 2026. Initially, the exams were going to be held between January 21 and 30.

Step 1: Visit the official website, i.e., jeemain.nta.nic.in.
Step 2: Find and click the link to download the session 1 exam city slip on the main page.
Step 3: Fill in the application number and date of birth fields.
Step 4: Download your city intimation slip after submitting your details.
Step 5: Store the slip safely and make a printout for reference NTA will now release the admit cards only 3 days before the exams start, meaning the hall tickets could be available only after January 17, 2026.
The announcement of the exam city slips is done before the release of the admit card as these slips help the candidates to plan their journey and stay. This year, the National Testing Agency is organising the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 Session 1 at different centres in a wide range of cities across the country and also in 15 cities outside India.
