DRDO is inviting applications for the research internships for the current academic year. The internships are paid and applicable to the specialised laboratories across India. The engineering and Science students, who are pursuing the final year of graduation and post-graduation, are eligible to apply for these internships.
The internship duration is up to six months and is available for final-year undergraduate (B.E./B.Tech) and postgraduate (M.E./M.Tech/M.Sc) students.
DRDO is offering a stipend of INR 5,000 per month, which will be a total of approx. INR 30,000 for six months. Academic eligibility depends on a minimum 75% marks or 7.5 CGPA. DRDO opens application for Indian citizens only, who are studying in a UGC- AICTE approved university or college as regular students. The official page to apply is the DRDO Vacancies Page.
These internships are, according to the DRDO labs, open in different cities:
CAIR (Bengaluru): Inviting final-year B.E./B.Tech students for a 6-month internship. Application window: February 12 to February 28, 2026.
INMAS (Delhi): Offering summer internships for Pharmacy (B.Pharm/M.Pharm), Biotechnology, and Life Science students.
Selection is strictly based on academic merit and relevance of the student's field to the lab’s research.
DRDO requires students to apply directly to individual labs, as there is no centralised internship portal.
Identify a DRDO lab that matches your discipline, such as CAIR for AI or Robotics and DGRE for Geoinformatics.
Prepare required documents, including a No Objection Certificate (NOC), latest mark sheets, Aadhaar card, and a recommendation letter.
Submit your application through Speed Post or the official email mentioned in the lab’s advertisement.
