The admissions process of every undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral program at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University is systematic. The steps include an entrance test, merit selection, and interviews for some specified courses.

1. Admission Process for Undergraduates.

Some of the undergraduate programs offered at JMI include BA, B.Tech, BBA, BA LLB and B.Arch.

Key Steps:

Step 1: Fill out the Application: Can be done electronically on the JMI Admissions Portal.

Step 2: Eligibility: Must have completed 10+2 with at least 45-50% (depends on the course).

Step 3: Entrance Examination:

Step 4: JMI Entrance Exam accepted for a majority of UG courses.

Step 5:  JEE Main is accepted for B.Tech, NATA for B.Arch and CLAT for BA LLB.

Step 6:  Merit List & Counselling:  The list is prepared on the grounds of verification of documents and scores obtained in the entrance examinations.

Step 7: Document Verification: Class X and XII marksheets, ID card, certificate of category if required.

2. Admission Process for Postgraduates.

Some of the popularly known offered postgraduate programs include MA, MBA, M.Tech, M.Sc and LLM.

 

Key Steps to follow: 

Step-1: Check the Eligibility: Undergraduate degree in relevant subject with at least 50-55% marks (subject to variation).

Step 2: Appear for the Entrance Examination:

JMI Entrance Test for MA, M.Sc., and LLM.

CAT is for MBA, GATE for M.Tech and UGC-NET for PhD.

Step-3: Interview (if applicable): For MBA and Mass Communication, among others.

Step 4: Final Selection: Integrated scoring rubric combining entrance scores and academic history.

Additional Details: Integrated PG courses like BA+MA have internal admission based on performance.

3. PhD courses admission in JMI

JMI offers PhD and post-doctoral research programs in interdisciplinary fields.

Essential Steps to follow:

Step-1: Check the Eligibility criteria: Possession of a Master's degree with an aggregate of 55% (or 50% for SC/ST).

Step 2:  Qualify for the Entrance Exam:

JMI PhD Entrance Test (written + viva).

Step-3: Exemption: UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/JRF qualifiers.

Step-4: Submission of Research Proposal: Required at application.

Step-5: Appear for Interview: At the departmental level.

  1. There is a high level of competition, so the students must submit their application as early as possible to increase their chances of securing a seat. Some programs offer merit-based scholarships.
