The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are launching a special cross-campus mobility system for students. To be eligible for this program, students must be enrolled at one of the 23 IITs.
The "cross-campus" mobility program is an internal exchange for full-time students. However, professionals can join the IIT system through Executive or Web-Enabled Programs. The details are available at the IIT System Portal and the IIT Council website.
The Cross-Campus Program allows IIT students to study at other IITs for a semester. This offers flexible learning opportunities, smooth credit transfers, and support for internships in different cities. The important features are:
Semester Exchange: Students can study for one semester at another IIT campus.
Credit Transfer: Earned credits will be transferred back to the home IIT.
Course Mapping: Curricula aligned to ensure academic compatibility and no loss of progress.
Internship Support: Enables students to take courses while interning in other cities.
Controlled Rollout: Initially launched on a limited scale based on infrastructure and hostel capacity.
The cross-campus mobility program is open to eligible students from IITs who meet academic performance and enrollment criteria. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students can apply, subject to CGPA requirements and institutional guidelines.
